Huntsville City Board of Education

The Huntsville City Board of Education is the policy-making body of the School District. Its powers and duties are set by state law. The Board is responsible for educational planning and evaluation, staffing and appraisal, school facilities, financial resources and communication. The Board acts as a court of appeal for staff members, students and the public on issues involving board policy or implementation of that policy.

The Huntsville City Board of Education encourages you to become involved in education. The School District offers many opportunities for community members to participate. You are invited to attend Board of Education Meetings.

 Huntsville Board of Education Special Called Meeting

 Thursday, February 19 at 4:00 pm

 Annie Merts Center / 200 White Street

 The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for teachers, staff and the public to comment to the Board of Education on the Proposed Consent Order in the case of Hereford and United States v Huntsville City Board of Education.

 The meeting will begin at 4:00 PM and continue until all comments are heard or until 5:20, whichever occurs first. The board will begin its regularly scheduled work session at 5:30 P.M. at the same place. Citizens wishing to provide the Board with comments on the Proposed Consent Order should do so at this meeting so that the Board can take comments into consideration prior to voting on the Proposed Consent Order on February 20, 2015.

Huntsville Board of Education Special Called Meeting

 Friday, February 20 at 8:30 am

 Annie Merts Center / 200 White Street

 

The purpose of the meeting is for consideration and voting on the superintendent’s recommendation to join the Department of Justice in submitting the Proposed Consent Order in the case of Hereford and United States v Huntsville City Board of Education. During this meeting, members of the board will comment and ask its counsel questions.

 

Citizens wishing to provide the Board with comments on the Proposed Consent Order should do so at the Special Called Board Meeting on Thursday, February 19 at 4:00 pm in the board room at 200 White Street.

Board meetings are held in the boardroom at 200 White Street 
on the first and third Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
