PRE-K Registration and Frequently Asked Questions




 Registration – April 3rd, 4th, and 5th – Call school for specific registration hours.

 o    Parents should provide the following original documents:

►3 Proofs of Residence                            ► Birth Certificate

►Social Security Card                               ► Blue Immunization Card


If your child is accepted, you will be notified by the school and will need to bring back the ORIGINAL Blue Immunization Card during Open House.  

  • Age – Must be four years old on or before September 1st
  • Students – Must reside in their school zone                                 
  • Selection of Students - First priority will be given to the most academically at-risk, inclusive of students of families living in poverty, “working-poor” or homeless.
  • Letter of Acceptance - Parents will be notified during the week of April 15th- 19th
  • Waiting List- If you are not notified during the week of April 15-19th of acceptance, your child will be placed on a waiting list (prioritized according to date of application). When a vacancy occurs you will be notified and offered that space.
  • Open House – Will be held prior to August 19th and is mandatory.

                       Principals will notify you of the date, time, and location.


·         First Full Student Day – August 19th 

·         Full Day Option- 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.– 2:30 p.m. (site decision made by principal)


·         Number of Students – 18 per class with a certified teacher and a highly-qualified instructional assistant.                                  

·         Transportation -- Parents are responsible transporting students daily (district bus service is not provided). Students must be signed in and out daily by a parent/guardian.


·         Free/Reduced Breakfast/Lunch Program – Applications will be available at the beginning of the school year  

·         HCS Extended Day – Available only if program already exists at school site (other afterschool programs made by principal)


·         School Supplies - Pre-K teachers will provide information regarding classroom supplies during Open House or via website.
