Weather Notice

Huntsville City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.  The two-hour delay will also apply to all HCS employees, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor.  The current forecast does not call for accumulations of winter-like precipitation, but does include a significant wind chill.  The delay will allow time for conditional improvements to ensure safe travel and improved conditions for our buses, students, and staff. 


All elementary, middle, and junior high classes will begin at 10:00am.  All high school classes will begin at 10:30am.  Buses will also run on a two-hour delayed schedule. 


The HCS Weather Safety Team will work in conjunction with the EMA and other local agencies to monitor conditions and send out updates should any additional changes be necessary.  For more information about the weather safety decision process, please select the more information link below.

Q. What are compliance investigations?

A. Compliance investigations are reviews to determine if certain federal and state statutes are being adhered to, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Q. How are investigations initiated?

A. Investigations can be initiated by a specific complaint or by a directive from the Compliance Director.

Q. Can anyone initiate a complaint?

A. Yes, any interested party can initiate a complaint, as long as it is in writing.

Q. Are complaints kept confidential?

A. All complaints are kept strictly confidential and the complainant is never identified.

Q. Can the outcome of an investigation be appealed?

A. Yes. The first level of appeal is to the Compliance Director. The next level is to the State Board of Education.
