School Weather Delay
Huntsville City Schools will delay the start of classes by one hour on Thursday, January 18, 2018, due to extreme cold weather conditions. Buses will run on a one-hour delayed schedule. Please click the link below for further information about specific start times.

Virtual Learning Academy

Huntsville City Schools Virtual Learning AcademyCriteria for Selection:

Through the application process, students must be able to provide evidence of academic success in English, written communication, and mathematics. Indicators of academic self-motivation, organizational and time management skills, and maturity are strongly suggested.

  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required
  • ACT Aspire Scores
  • A recommendation from your School Counselor (click here for the recommendation form).

Additionally, because of the rigors associated with the VLA, students will need:

  • Reliable internet access (students will be issued a HCS laptop)
  • Access to transportation to New Century Technology High School (for quizzes, tests, and/or labs

NOTE: The ACCESS Virtual Learning curriculum, at this time, does not offer High School Honors Courses.  Please refer to the ACCESS Curriculum link below.
