2019 Summer School Information

Registration for Summer School 2019 will open on April 1, 2019 and will run through April 26, 2019.  A late registration window will begin on May 28, 2019 and run through May 31, 2019.

  • Students will register with their grade-level counselor.
  • Students who need to take Health, Driver's Ed, or Career Preparedness will register using the Summer Credit Enhancement Sign-Up Form.
    • The form for credit enhancement sign-ups will open Monday, April 1, 2019 between 8AM-9AM

Registration Fees

$25 registration fee is required of all students at the time of registration to reserve a seat.  Tuition and fees for both credit recovery and enhancement must be paid in full before beginning summer coursework.

Credit Recovery Courses
  • All Huntsville City Schools Students
    • $300 for first credit recovery course
    • $150 for additional courses, due prior to beginning 2nd course
  • Non-Huntsville City Schools Students
    • Middle School - $400 for first credit recovery course
    • Middle School - $200 for additional courses
    • High School - $400 - 1.0 Credit 
    • High School - $250 - 0.5 Credit
Credit Enhancement Courses
  • All Huntsville City Schools Students
    • High School - $300/1.0 Credit Hour
    • High School - $200/0.5 Credit Hour
  • Non-Huntsville City Schools Students
    • High School - $400/1.0 Credit Hour
    • High School - $250/0.5 Credit Hour
  • Priority will be given to current HCS students.


Bus transportation will be provided for students currently enrolled in the following schools: Jemison, McNair, Chapman, and Morris.  Parent(s) or Legal Guardian(s) must provide transportation for students enrolled in all other Huntsville City Schools.

Attendance Requirements

Regular school policy regarding student absences does NOT apply to Summer School.

Credit will not be awarded to students with absences exceeding the maximum number allowed, regardless of the reason for the absences or tardies.

  • Maximum Absences - 2 days
  • 3 Tardies = 1 absence

Special Education

Special Education academic classes are offered at the designated high school site. Specialized programs will be available for other special education students. Please contact your child's teacher for information.

Student Discipline

The Huntsville City Board of Education requires that all students conduct themselves in a manner that facilitates the educational process. Disciplinary action will be administered according tothe district's Behavioral Learning Guide.

Report Card Dates

Middle and High School report cards will be issued no later than by June 28.
