HCS To Implement Blended Learning Plan

Special Education Support Staff

Assistive Technology Specialist

Consults with teachers and classroom teams around selection, training and use of assistive technology devices students need to be successful in school.


Conducts audiological evaluations for students with hearing problems, develops  individual treatment plans for students with hearing challenges, manages classroom acoustics to eliminate background noise, teaches staff how to use FM’s appropriately, works on classroom accommodations for students with hearing loss.

Autism Specialists

Work with staff in the planning and implementation of programs for students on the autism spectrum or those who have similar learning or behavioral challenges.

Behavior Intervention Specialists

Work with staff, students and families on behalf of students with challenging behaviors which interfere with student succes.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments, Design, implement and monitor, through ongoing data collection, individualized Behavior Support Plan.

Collaborative Specialists

Provide overall leadership to the creation and implementation of an innovative and compliant special education service program in support of Administrators, Teachers and Students within the assigned cluster.

Homebound Teacher

Provides continuity of educational services between the classroom and home or health care facility, for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychiatric, do not allow school attendance for a limited period of time.


Work with students with hearing impairments who need these services to access their educational program.

Instructional Assistants

Works with school staff in the classroom and the community to provide instructional programs.

Instructional Support Specialist

Assists staff with implementation of district adopted curriculum and with IEP writing.


Assist school staff in management of student medical needs.

Occupational Therapists (OT) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Work with students to improve gross and fine motor skills.

Occupational and Mobility Specialist

Helps visually impaired students navigate through their environment.

Physical Therapists (PT)

Work with students to improve range of motion, gait and other gross motor skills.

Pre-Kindergarten Evaluators

Conducts educational assessments and completes assessment reports for students ages 3-5 who are referred for special education  evaluations.

Pre-Kindergarten Sped Specialist

Works with families, schools, community and agencies birth to transition and support students ages 3-5 into our Early Childhood programs.


Coordinate assessment activities for students referred for Special Education services or in need of a three-year reevaluation. They assess in all academic areas, cognitive, behavioral and social/adaptive skill areas.

Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP)

Works with students to improve deficient areas in communication skills.

Visual Impairment Specialist

Works with visually impaired students at all levels.
