NCTHS Selected as CLAS School of Distinction

Huntsville City Schools’ own New Century Technology High School has been selected as a 2019 CLAS (Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools) School of Distinction.  New Century is one of only four schools from State School Board District 8 to receive the honor.  The award recognizes schools that serve as outstanding educational models for other schools in Alabama.  Each school was nominated for this award by its respective superintendent.

New Century Principal Sheila Roby says New Century was selected for its Biomedical Science programs, and adds that “we go out of our way to create rigorous programs with many opportunities to help our students prepare for a career that’s a good fit.”

The schools of distinction will be recognized at a luncheon on May 4th in Prattville, Alabama, during which the CLAS Banner School from State School Board District 8 will be announced.  The CLAS Banner School program was created in 2001 to recognize schools in Alabama that showcase outstanding programs and service to students.  Seven Huntsville City Schools have previously been recognized as CLAS Banner schools.
