Teacher Spotlight: Bethany Pauli

Congratulations to Bethany Pauli of Blossomwood Elementary School, selected as this week’s Teacher Spotlight!

Ms. Pauli is a native of Huntsville, a graduate of Lee High School, and is celebrating 21 years as a Gifted Education teacher in Huntsville City Schools. Ms. Pauli also sponsors the Blossomwood Chess Club (The Rookies), runs the Blossomwood News Network (BNN), and in the past has led various clubs and teams for the benefit of the school.

"I love to see the bright light in the children's eyes when a light bulb goes off and they have come to a realization about something," says Ms. Pauli.  That light bulb goes off a lot in her classroom, where she uses a variety of interactive activities designed to challenge students and push them to higher-level thinking.  One of her students, Mason Turner, states that "she makes activities really fun."  Ms. Pauli also makes great efforts to connect with her students.  Avery Schmitt, another of Ms. Pauli's students, says that "she gets down on our level and really tries to understand us."  Ms. Pauli has a profound impact on those she teaches, and says that "the biggest thing I want children to remember from my class, is that they have to believe in themselves."

Each week, ETV will showcase an outstanding Huntsville City Schools educator as a feature in the “Teacher Spotlight." Highlighted recipients receive gifts from SchoolCraft and Five Guys.
