Teacher Spotlight: Daryl Williams

Congratulations to Daryl Williams of McNair Junior High School, selected as this week’s Teacher Spotlight!

Mr. Williams is a native of Staten Island, NY.  He transitioned to Huntsville, AL to attend Oakwood University where he graduated in 2014. After spending the summer following his graduation teaching in Cleveland, MS, he began teaching at McNair Jr. High School during their inaugural year. He has taught 7th Grade math at McNair Jr. High for the past two years.  In addition, Mr. Williams also teaches 7th grade Leadership and coaches the Academic Team and Track Team.

Shakiya Friend, an 8th grade student at McNair Junior High, says that Mr. Williams "does all he can to help us succeed."  Mr. Williams says he became a teacher because he "saw the need for a role model in the community." Students in his classroom see consistent positivity and encouragement, always feel welcome, and any time Mr. Williams asks a question it seems like every hand in the room goes up due to the high level of engagement that is occurring.

Each week, ETV will showcase an outstanding Huntsville City Schools educator as a feature in the “Teacher Spotlight."  Highlighted recipients receive gifts from SchoolCraft and Five Guys.
