Teacher Spotlight: Jessica Bordelon

Congratulations to Ms. Jessica Bordelon of Montview Elementary School, selected as this week’s Teacher Spotlight!

Jessica BordelonMs. Bordelon was born in Huntsville, Alabama and has lived here her entire life. She has a very obvious passion for teaching, and she loves helping students and watching them grow throughout the year. She has also taught third and fourth grade, but this is her first year teaching first grade at Montview.  Ms. Bordelon attended the University of Alabama where she received her Bachelors in Elementary Education.

"Jessica Bordelon is a team player.  She's all about children, and she has a great heart - which isn't something we can train," says Montview Principal Lisa Monte.  Maggie Peake, a first year teacher and Ms. Bordelon's 'partner teacher' says that "she is here when everyone is gone, [and] she puts her whole heart into everything she does."  Her first grade students give her high praise as well.  Makayla Pinchon says "I think she's the nicest teacher. [...] She helps us with our math, and helps us read."  Ms. Bordelon says that she wants her students to "have a love for learning, especially in first grade."  She continues, saying that a lot of her effort goes into reading so that her students can be successful beyond the time they spend with her.  She also incorporates a lot of differentiation so that students of different learning styles can all master the material.

Each week, ETV will showcase an outstanding Huntsville City Schools educator as a feature in the “Teacher Spotlight." Highlighted recipients receive gifts from SchoolCraft and Five Guys.
