Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Alexsandra Robinson

Congratulations to Alexsandra Robinson of Ridgecrest Elementary School, selected as this week’s Teacher Spotlight recipient!

Ms. Robinson teaches fifth grade at Ridgecrest, and is a graduate of both the University of Alabama and Alabama A&M.  She says that she has always known that she wanted to be an educator, and as a child she would usually spend summers playing teacher at home.  Even when she isn’t at school, she’s usually still working with other young people.  She spends a lot of time working with the youth group at her church and elsewhere.  According to her, “I just always seem to end up working with the kids.”   Ms. Robinson also enjoys spending time with her husband and five-year-old, often making trips to Utah to see other family members.

“She is a natural,” says Ridgecrest Elementary TOSA Alecia Young, “it is like she was meant to be in the classroom.”  Principal Denine Matthews calls her a “teacher leader,” and also says she is “very engaged with her students.”  Her classroom is always full of students who are closely tuned in to the lesson, whether it be on their computers or working an assignment out on paper.  “She is an amazing teacher.  She breaks things down when we don’t understand,” says fifth grade student Charity Williams.

Ms. Robinson says, “I not only love the students in my classroom, but I love our school at Ridgecrest and all the students.”  In her view, the students, faculty, and staff at Ridgecrest are a family, and it’s safe to say that she makes them feel the same way.

Each week, ETV will showcase an outstanding Huntsville City Schools educator as a feature in the “Teacher Spotlight." Highlighted recipients receive gifts from SchoolCraft.
