Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Grace Langhout
Congratulations to Ms. Grace Langhout of Hampton Cove Elementary School, selected as this week’s Teacher Spotlight recipient!
Ms. Langhout has been teaching at Hampton Cove Elementary for over four years and is currently teaching fifth grade math, science, and writing. She enjoys watching her students learn, and works diligently to challenge them to become productive, responsible future leaders. When she isn’t working with students or preparing lessons, she enjoys traveling, engaging in outdoor activities, and spending time with family. She is also an avid Auburn fan and stays very involved with her church. Mrs. Bateman, her first and second grade teacher at Weatherly Elementary School, had a huge impact on her desire to become a teacher, and even offered constant advice and help on her road to working with HCS students.
“Ms. Langhout is an incredible teacher,” says Hampton Cove Elementary Assistant Principal (TOSA) Rebecca Wren, “she has high student engagement in her classroom.” A trip to Ms. Langhout’s classroom will often see students playing interactive math games or working together on group science projects. Joanna Benjamin, one of Ms. Langhout’s students, says “I like that she makes us do hard things that she knows we can do.” Ms. Langhout’s love for teaching shines through in the relationships she builds, both with students and with their parents. She says she hopes that her students will always remember that she was encouraging and supportive of them.
Nathan Bellomy, another of Ms. Langhout’s students, says that she is “kind, energetic” and she “makes everything seem fun.”
