Magnet Programs

The application for Huntsville City Schools College Academy Magnet Program is open for the 2019-2020 school year, from Monday, February 2nd through March 2nd. This application is for current grade 7 students (ONLY).  Access the College Academy Magnet Application.

Applications for grades 6-8 (ONLY) are now being accepted for the Academy for Gifted and Talented (AGT).  The application is open from Monday, January 22nd through March 2nd. Access the AGT Application. Please note for information regarding Gifted screening please contact Mrs. Wendy Graham at 256-428-6044 or your local school.


Magnet schools offer specialized pathways of learning and focused themes that attract a diverse population of students throughout Huntsville City Schools.  A variety of themes are available that include creative and performing arts, International Baccalaureate, foreign language, biomedical science, computer science, technology, engineering, math, gifted & talented, and early college.  Students from across the district may apply to Magnet Programs.

The Magnet Application for The Academy for Academics and Arts, The Academy for Science and Foreign Language, Lee Performing Arts High School, New Century Technology High School and Columbia IB Programme is now closed for the 2018-2019 school year. 

Grades 6-12 applicants are required to participate in the next step, audition/essay process.
