Huntsville Community Drumline offers an extracurricular option for youth to be involved in a positive, community-based activity. In addition to teaching drumming, a craft that will help participants compete for college scholarships, we focus on the development of self-respect, respect for others, self-discipline and pride in our community.

Starting kindergarten is a big step, and we at Girl Scouts want to make sure that girls are comfortable and confident. Let us stand with you to support and inspire girls as they make new friends, meet new teachers, and test out new ideas. Our girl-centered kindergarten readiness series is free and open to any girl entering kindergarten this fall.
Make New Friends is free and open to all girls and their families, heading into Kindergarten this coming Fall – no Girl Scout membership necessary. In addition to the sessions, you will receive additional resources after each session to continue skill-development with your girl. Click here to register for the next event.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters' mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1:1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. It is our vision that all youth achieve success in life. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving: higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships; avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success.
The Caring House provides a safe place for children ages 3-18 and their families to cope with the death of a loved one and share their grief with others. We recognize that grief is a natural reaction to the loss of a loved one. The duration and intensity of grief is unique for each individual. Within each of us is the natural capacity to heal, and acceptance and caring facilitate that healing process.
The MOBILE CLOSET will visit designated schools (request made by HCS counselors – permission slips will be sent to eligible families for participation) to provide the following items to students in need:
- 2 outfits (new and gently used clothing)
- School Supplies (notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons)
- Hygiene products (shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene)
The ABC for Students program will help households throughout Alabama access internet this fall. The Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students program will provide free internet access for eligible students who are enrolled in the National School Lunch Program through their schools. We are working to make the process as easy as possible for students who choose to participate.
If your student is enrolled in the National School Lunch Program through their school, you are already enrolled in the Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students program. You will receive a prepaid voucher by U.S. mail by the end of August. Then all you’ll have to do is call the internet service provider of your choice, give them your voucher code, and sign up for service.
If you have recently moved, please call your school to update your address.
