Celebrations At The Academy

Alabama Outstanding Teacher of American History Recognition:

Twickenham Town Chapter DAR has announced that Mr. Gary Leopold has been selected the Alabama Outstanding Teacher of American History for the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  This award is based on the following criteria:

1) Readily sharing an incisive knowledge of American History

2) Being committed to the students

3) Fostering a spirit of patriotism and loyal support of our country

4) Relating History to modern life and events

5) Requiring high academic standards at all times from students


Creative Communication Poetry Contest Winners:

Our middle school creative writers have been busy too!  Students wrote poems based on a holiday that meant something to them and entered them into a contest sponsored by Creative Communication, A Celebration of Today’s Writers.  The following students will have their poem published in an anthology along with other winners from all over the United States!

 Eleven  students were honored by Huntsville City Schools PTA for their Reflections Projects last week.  The following students will move on to the state level.

  • Sophia Kemba in Dance Choreography
  • Waring Cantey in Film Production

Choir Performances:

Also a shout out to our 3rd and 4th grade choir who performed Thursday night for the Boys and Girls Club sponsors at Early Works Museum.  Thank you to Mrs. Staples for leading them!  Our Accents performed on Saturday at the Magnet Welcome at Lee High School-they were AAAmazing!  Thank you Mrs. Stoddard!
