Kitrise Torain

I am honored to have been selected as the principal of the Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School. As the principal, I want to tell you some things about myself. I graduated from Lee High School in which I participated in several magnet programs. I have been working in education and with the Huntsville City School System for 17 years. It is a true honor to serve in the system that educated me. I am elated to return to AAA which is where my teaching career began. I spent 10 years at AAA. During my time with the Huntsville City School System, I have worked as a teacher, reading and math coach, Summer Teacher Academy Coach, magnet coordinator, assistant principal and freshmen academy administrator. Most of my career has been centered around magnet schools. Additionally, I have been on numerous instructional and leadership committees for the district.

My favorite past times are reading, professionally and for leisure, singing, and spending time with my husband (Stanley), children (Allen and Aiden), other family, and friends. Also, I enjoy working in my place of worship.

My focus this year will be working hard to create a safe learning environment which promotes collaboration and unity. The Academy for Academics and Arts has a positive climate with a rich heritage and traditions. I will do whatever is necessary to make sure our students are successful and ready for the next level of their educational career. Our students will continue to become 21st century learners that are critical thinkers and problem-solvers. Furthermore, they will continue to be positive digital citizens and meet the College and Career Ready and Arts Standards. I am excited about being able to continue the legacy of academic achievement and exceptional arts programs.

We are an incredible school and I look forward to working with each of you to continue our students’ success. It is awesome to be back home with my fAAAmily.

If you have suggestions, questions, celebrations, or concerns, my door is always open. Email is the best way to reach me because I check it frequently during the day. My email is Kitrise.Torain@hsv-k12.org. The school’s number is 256-428-7600. I will get back in contact with you as soon as possible.

Our Best Always!!!
