Ms. Mary Vande Voorde

Artist and Photographer for life!
I have been an Art teacher for over 20+ years in Public schools.
I've taught Art in Florida, Arizona, and Alabama at all levels K-12, but have taught a majority of the time in Middle school and High Schools. Many of my students have successfully completed Portfolios to be accepted in colleges and Universities and Art Institutes for Art and Design. My Middle School serious art students (to the best of my knowledge),have also all been accepted to Lee High Schools Art Magnet programs and other HS art programs that they desired to apply for with their sketchbooks and portfolios.
I love to hike and take photographs for fun.
As an artist I personally enjoy printmaking, ceramics and sculpture, as well as mixed media, and collage for my "go to" favorite art mediums.
This last year I had two of my artworks accepted into the Art teacher show at the Huntsville Museum of Art. One was a Printmaking piece made from a carved linoleum block and the other was a Mixed Media collage done from a photograph which was turned into a Cyanotype and accentuated with acrylics and found objects.
My Middle School artists last year at AAA helped HCS win an award for the School District with the most Art Awards along with LEE HS and Grissom High School! The Middle School AAA artists helped HCS bring home the most State Art Awards from Montgomery to secure this 2020 District Art Award for Huntsville City!
Second place for the art teacher with the most students winning VAA State Art Awards for the State of Alabama in 2020 was a great accomplishment for me as well, as an art teacher in Huntsville Alabama.
AAA 2020 Middle School Art students won 5 of the 7 possible categories for Middle School Art:
* Printmaking=Overall State of Alabama Winner
*Photography *Graphics /Computer Art *Painting *Sculpture/ 3D
Overall AAA has won over 13 VAA State Awards these last 4 years while I have been teaching various Middle School Art courses and Photography.
AAA has also had several Congressional Art Show winners and exhibitors for HCS sponsored Art Events shown at Lee HS and in the Congressional offices in Montgomery.
Many students have also won awards for the Cultural Heritage and Community Art Contests exhibited at our Public Libraries as well as Online Art contests since we have been virtual.
