Stars and Clowns Audition Procedures Have Been Announced
The Academy Stars and Clowns have announced audition procedures for the 2018-2019 school year and will begin auditions next month.
The Academy Clowns are talented, hard-working performers from the 6th grade at Huntsville City Schools’ fine arts magnet school, the Academy for Academics and Arts. Students audition to become a part of the Academy Clowns, have class four days a week and minimal after school rehearsals.
The Academy Clowns give students a chance to do more than sing and dance before an audience. The personal commitment given by a student to be a part of the group, to audition, come to all rehearsals, to care for costumes and learn theatrical make-up techniques, and to perform publicly teaches lifelong skills that transfer to academic success and career opportunities.
Stars is a 7th and 8th grade performance group at the Academy for Academics and Arts. During class they create a wonderful show filled with songs and dances to fit our performance theme. Stars tour the community twice a year, once in the winter and once in the spring. They visit local elementary schools and assisted living facilities around the town. Stars meet 4 days a week during class time, as well as after school rehearsals to prepare for tour and other performances.
