ASFL IB Programmes

The IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.  These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

ASFL IB Mission Statement

Educate students to understand our diverse world through the study of world languages and science as Huntsville's premiere PreK-8 International Bacclaureate School.

Unique Program Components:

  • Daily instruction in multiple world languages
  • Specialized science electives, extracurricular activities, field experiences and lab opportunities
  • Through the IB Programme, students experience an integrated curriculum focused on international mindedness

What does it mean to be IB?

The IB's programmes are different from other curricula because they:

  • encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
  • develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating quality practice from research and our global community of schools
  • encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts
  • develop multilingual students
