K-5 Carline Procedures

Safety is one of our top priorities at ASFL. Please review the following information to help ensure the safety of our students and staff, as well as to expedite the morning and afternoon carlines. Keep in mind that per the city, there are no left turns allowed from Mastin Lake Road onto Porter Drive during arrival and dismissal times. There are also no left turns into the carline once the line has formed. Please join the line by entering the back of the neighborhood from Pulaski Pike or Sparkman Drive.

K-5 Morning Carline Procedures

  • School opens at 7:30 a.m. Students should not be dropped off then, as there is no supervision available for them.
  • Parents should remain in their vehicle and students should exit on the passenger side.
  • Students should have on their mask and have belongings (backpack, lunchbox, etc.) ready to exit the car.
  • Please pull forward as far as possible.
  • Do not allow students to exit if you are not in the carline lane.

If your child needs extensive assistance to exit your car, please park in the parking lot, help them exit, and walk them to the front awning.

K-5 Afternoon Carline Procedures

  • School dismisses at 3:00 p.m.
  • Parents should remain in their vehicles and join the carline. Please do not park and walk up to get your student.
  • Students should enter on the passenger side.
  • Please pull forward as far as possible.
  • Once it's their turn, students will be given a number to stand on while waiting for you to pull forward.
  • Please remain in line, even after your student is in the car, unless signaled by a staff member.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office. We appreciate your cooperation as we endeavour to make this a smooth and safe process for all.

**PreK has different arrival and dismissal procedures. Please see Ms. Crain for details.
