Robotics Team Competes at State Tournament
Our Auquamarine Team participated in the First LEGO League state tournament held at Hampton Cove Middle School on January 20. The team members included Elijah Cooper, Noah Dixon, Jasmine Ford, Judah Hall, Brandon Harris, Lila Kepler, Meredith Pommerenck, and Griffin Weldon. Gina DelaMerced, our ETA teacher, was the team's sponsor this year.
This year's theme was Hydro Dynamics - exploring the location, use, storage, and movement of water. The team's project challenge was to improve the way people find, transport, use, or dispose of water. The Aquamarine team researched how we use water and tried to come up with an innovative way to use water more effectively by creating their own water filter. They were inspired by the lack of clean drinking water in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island. Team members also designed, built, and programmed their own robot using LEGO Mindstorms software. The many hours they spent researching, collaborating, planning, problem solving, and creating definitely paid off.
We're very proud of the Aquamarine team for representing our school incredibly well!
