Heat Advisory

Due to the heat advisory in the forecast for today, HCS will be operating under our heightened awareness weather protocols.  The Heightened Awareness protocols will remain in effect throughout the duration of the heat advisory. Our schools will take extra precautions to ensure the safety of our students by limiting outdoor activities and keeping students hydrated.  Our middle and high schools will be utilizing the Alabama High School Athletic Association guidelines for outdoor heat for all our students involved in any extracurricular activities, such as sports, band, etc.

Susan Lewis

I have taught Kindergarten at Blossomwood for 18+ years; preceded by teaching 5th grade at Blossomwood for 3 years; Kindergarten for 3 years at Lakewood Elementary; and finally 1 year in 1st grade at Lakewood. My Huntsville Public School experience followed my 5-year Directorship at First United Methodist Church's Mother's Morning Out. My love and passion for working with and nurturing children has been a life long motivation! An added interesting bit of information ... not only did my two girls attend Blossomwood, but I also attended as a student! Of course that was a bit ago when the school offered 1st through 6th grades. I love our new building, but my personal roots are deep below the new loads of dirt and foundation- the true heart of the school is found in the children and faculty!
