5th Grade Attends the Liberty Legacy Foundation's Kick-off

On Thursday, September 15th, our fifth graders took a field trip to Stovehouse-The Royal. Our students and seven other schools within Huntsville City Schools came together to kick off the Liberty Legacy Foundation's American Character Program.

This program creates an exciting experience for students to learn lessons in civic responsibility, character building, financial literacy, career development, community engagement, and the Great American story that helps them discover and define their role in America’s future.

For the next eight weeks, the students will be learning the history behind ten pivotal characters, such as Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Franklin, and Abraham Lincoln while highlighting the motivating character traits which distinguish these individuals as extraordinarily significant heroes in the American experience. The students even met Libby Liberty and learned many fun facts about the Statue of Liberty.
