Beginning of the Year News from Dr. Wallace
Dear Challenger Families,
Welcome back to school! We are looking forward to a great new school year starting August 4th. If you have not yet completed your PowerSchool updated registration, please do so as soon as possible. An email from Powerschool would have been sent last week with your Snapcode. Please look for that email and complete your registration.
Challenger Kindergarten Orientation is August 2nd in the AV room from 5:00-6:00 pm. Students will meet teachers and parents will get information for a successful Kindergarten year.
Challenger 1st-5th grade Meet and Greet is August 2nd throughout the building from 6:00-7:00 pm. We will have class assignments ready for those students who have completed PowerSchool registration. Come, meet your teacher, find your seat, leave your supplies and get beginning of the year information.
We welcome several new teachers to Challenger. Please welcome Elise Sharp to kindergarten, Lorri Stricklen, Tiffany Pogue, and Jacob Wright to second grade, Maddie Bradford and Adrienne Edwards to third grade, Amy Martin to fourth grade and Rebecca Alderton to fifth grade. We are happy to add such strong teachers to our already wonderful faculty.
We are excited to tell you about a new afterschool tutoring opportunity. After-school tutoring is for all students who are enrolled in Grades K-5 during the 2021-2022 school year. The free program will focus on providing additional support to our students in reading and math. Tutoring is scheduled to begin on August 4th. Students are encouraged to attend Monday through Friday of each week from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. A snack will be provided. Transportation will not be provided; however, parents/guardians will be responsible for transporting their own children. Applications are available in the front office and a link will be sent to a google form to apply online.
We will have updated health and safety information available after the HCS Board of Education meeting on July 26th. We anticipate keeping everyone as safe as possible for a fantastic year ahead.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday, August 2nd for the Kinder orientation and 1st-5th grade Meet & Greet. Please help us make sure students are ready for class on August 4th by heading to bed early to be ready for school at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
