End of Year Updates
Dear Challenger Families,
It's hard to believe this school year is three days from being over! With every new day, this school year has gotten more and more normal since March 2020. Especially, this last month has been so exciting with Field Day! Beach Party! 80's Dance! Foam Party! Field Trips! It has felt good to get back to those things that are extra, but so important for our school community. Thank you to each of you for your help with the activities that have made some great memories.
State and District benchmark tests are complete. We have some strong preliminary scores so far for our 2nd & 3rd graders. I am thrilled with all the hard work from the teachers and kids this year! We can see the growth! Your official ACAP scores will come home in the Fall. Teachers will include parent reports for STAR and Dibels with the report cards going home on Wednesday. In addition, student data notebooks will be sent home. I encourage you to review the notebook with your child and talk about the successes of the year.
We have some teachers moving on to new adventures next year. We will miss each one of them and thank them for their contributions to education at Challenger. Bon Voyage to Elizabeth Walsh - PK, Kyla Lumpkin - SPED, Carolyn Seaman - 2nd grade, Jessie Cross - 4th grade, and Erin Singletary - 5th grade. God Speed. Congratulations to Mia Ruffin as well. She will be the new reading coach for Challenger next year and will make a huge impact on literacy.
Lastly, thank you for ten wonderful years at Challenger! I still remember the hot July day when I first walked through the doors of the school. I received a sweet welcome, and have continued to feel the love and support of the Challenger community over the years. Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me, and I hope when you see me out and about, you will be sure to say hello. I have promised to help the new principal with the transition so that next year will be a smooth transition and know you will be in good hands.
