January News From Dr. Wallace
Dear Challenger Families,
Happy New Year! I think most of us are excited to have 2020 behind us and looking forward to a more “normal” 2021. We are all so grateful for your persistence, patience, understanding and support last semester. None of us ever thought we’d learn so much about things we never thought we’d be interested in, but at least we’re here to grow new dendrites and our children are here to get as much as we can give them in this second semester!
Please remember that next week, January 4-8, 2021, is a staggered week, meaning cohort A students come on campus Monday through Wednesday and cohort B students come to the building Thursday and Friday. Your teacher will send links for live lessons and assignments in Schoology by Monday morning for you to work from home on the days you are not here. As far as we know, this is only for next week. Hopefully, we will all be back on campus Jan. 11th.
If you are HVA, your teacher will make sure you have the new links for the coming lessons and any changes in the schedule. If you are leaving HVA and coming to the building for the first time Monday or Thursday, please make sure children know their first and last name to tell Mrs. Humphrey at the front door, and we’ll get them to class with no problem.
We have Internet at the school now and teachers have new computers. Hopefully, we won’t run into many glitches, but whatever problems we may run into we can overcome with the same persistence, patience, understanding and support that carried us through the first semester.
I need to give a big shout out to our wonderful school nurse, Maegan Wagnon. Nurse Wagnon is our Go To everyday for any health questions or issues. We are lucky to have such a calm, easy going health professional working with us here at Challenger. As a reminder, please don’t send students to school if they do not feel well or if anyone in the family is not feeling well or are waiting for Covid test results. We can always provide packets and live instruction via internet until we get answers. Please notify your teacher if your student will not be in attendance. Nurse Wagnon will be in contact with you if the cause is Covid related.
We received desk shields for returning students and have plenty of hand sanitizer and wipes for everyone. All students will need to continue to wear a mask on a daily basis. The students have been doing a great job of wearing a mask, keeping hands clean, and keeping a distance from other students. We will continue these expectations into the new semester.
Report cards come home on Friday. The first semester has been a challenge for many students, especially those in HVA. This second semester is an opportunity to restart, set a plan, be consistent, and work hard to finish the year strong. I know we can do it and we’re here to help in every way we can!
2021 for the Win!
