Update From Dr. Wallace -- New Beginnings

Dear Challenger Families,

35 years ago, I started my career in education. I started as an intern teacher assigned to a 2nd & 3rd-grade classroom, back in the 80s, while still a student at the University of Utah and quickly moved to Park City School District, in Park City, Utah. After a 25 year career there with more years in teaching, and as a reading specialist, assistant principal, and principal, I had a wonderful opportunity to move to Huntsville. Huntsville City Schools and Challenger Elementary became my new home away from home. Now, ten years later at this wonderful school, it is time for me to move on to a new adventure. At the end of this school year will retire from Huntsville City Schools.

I hope you know, but I will say it again, Challenger Elementary is a very special place. When I stepped through the doors ten years ago, it was clear I was very fortunate to land at such an amazing and supportive school. Challenger was built on a wonderful foundation, that is still very much in place while we changed with the times. The faculty here are committed to Challenger, its students, and its families. Our students are some of the sharpest, funniest, and most friendly kids around who care about each other and their school. And I have been blessed to work with our supportive and dedicated Challenger families my entire tenure here.

I know Huntsville City Schools is aware I am here to help with the transition of administration this summer and know the new administration will also be thrilled to be at Challenger with you and continue the level of support, guidance, and encouragement that is standard for this school of excellence.

I'll look forward to some shorter workdays with more hobbies, vacations, and family time in the future. I will look forward to following Challenger news, knowing kids, teachers, and the community will always AIM HIGH!

Love,

Dr. Wallace
