Born in Florence, Alabama, Dianne Hasty is a product of the Florence City Schools. During high school years, a love of learning and participation in athletics, grew to become a dream and calling to teach. Following graduation from Bradshaw High School, Dianne attended the University of North Alabama and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Biology as well as a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education. Shortly following, Dr. Hasty was employed with Huntsville City Schools serving as the first certified Physical Education teacher at Ridgecrest Elementary. In 1989 Dr. Hasty was honored to be a part of the inaugural faculty at Challenger Elementary, again serving as the Physical Education teacher. During her tenure at Challenger Elementary, Dr.Hasty returned to school at the University of Alabama to pursue doctoral studies and administrative credentials. Dr. Hasty served one year as an Assistant Principal and one year as the district attendance and discipline specialist before returning to Challenger as the Middle School Principal.
Dianne Hasty is a wife, mother and grandmother who enjoys spending time on the family farm where she and her husband raise, exhibit and show Tennessee Walking Horses.
Referring to Challenger, Dr. Hasty has often stated “Challenger is a special place. We are a school who bears the name and legacy of modern day heroes and heroines. Their quest to learn, explore and discover charted a course and path for our students to follow. Their courage, character and tenacity set forth an example to emulate. The history of the Challenger legacy has certainly become the beacon for our future, and our future is indeed bright”.
