Weather Notice

Due to the potential for icy road conditions, Huntsville City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. The two-hour delay will also apply to all HCS employees, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor.  All elementary, middle, P-8, and junior high classes will begin at 10:00am.  All high school classes will begin at 10:30am.  For more information about the weather decision process, please click for more information below.

Laurie Thompson

The 2017-2018 school year will be Mrs. Thompson's 13th year as choir director at Challenger Middle School. Mrs. Thompson loved singing in choir in middle and high school, and that is where her desire to teach music began. Mrs. Thompson and her husband have been married for 12 years and have two children, ages 6 and 3. Mrs. Thompson enjoys listening to music, reading, watching SEC football (Roll Tide!) and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Thompson taught elementary school music for two years in Georgia before moving to Huntsville and starting at Challenger. Mrs. Thompson is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Alabama Vocal Association. She also serves as secretary of the Huntsville City Schools Choral Directions Association.
