Principal's Message December 2018
Hello Challenger Family
This semester has passed so quickly it’s hard to believe we are at mid-term. As we approach the second semester, I would like to remind everyone that our school and district has an emphasis and focus on student attendance this year. It is important that students be at school on time every day. Research has demonstrated that regular attendance is crucial to student growth and success. Further, irregular attendance is a risk factor for failing grades and increases the potential for dropping out of school. Certainly, we are not advocating students attend when they are ill. However, when not ill and able to attend, they should be at school.
Our semester has been busy but exciting. Our green power team place third in the Jemisonrace. Our cyber teams placed first and second in the state in their first competition as wellas finishing in the top four percent in the nation! That’s no small feat! Our boy’s basketball team won the Hampton Cove tournament just prior to the start of the regular season. Our choir and band brought students and parents a fantastic Veterans day program. Paige Heller was named the Outstanding Choral Student in the All City choral competition. From these accomplishments it is clear our students are SOARing!
Winter break officially begins Friday, December 21st AT 3:00PM. We will have a full day ofschool on December 21. Students will return to school on Monday January 7, 2019. As always, we thank you for allowing us the honor of educating your children. If we may be of service please do not hesitate to call on us.
