Chapman Celebrates Black History Month

Chapman Elementary and Chapman Middle School celebrated Black History Month with several activities. Teachers and students created bulletin boards honoring famous African Americans. Mr. Taylors Civics class had a guest speaker who spoke to students about the Birmingham Children's March. Mrs. Smith gave a first hand account of that day in history and how it impacted her life. The elementary school created Black History posters and hung them in the area around our cafeteria. Both schools came together, under the direction of Ms. Daniel, and participated in a Black History Program. The program reenacted the March to Selma for voting rights. Our Chapman Students were able to celebrate and honor this important time in our history.
