Amy Smith

I have been teaching gifted and talented students at Chapman since 1998. I have two incredible, grown children. My son, BJ, is married and living/working in North Carolina. My daughter, Brittany, has just finished her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at UA-Huntsville. Since January 2015, I'm a grandmother. That's when BJ and his wife, Diana, brought little William into the world. I live with Lady, a rescue dog who is definitely an escape artist. Lady joined me in 2008. I was born in Miami Beach, Florida and moved to Kaiserslautern, Germany at age 10. I attended boarding school in France, Belgium, and England. Living in Europe as a child forever changed my life. I was born in Florida and consider myself to be a Floridian but I've also lived in Louisiana, Nevada, New York, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama ... well, you get the idea. I've traveled back to Europe and to Israel, Greece and Turkey. There are still many places in the USA and all over the world I'd love to visit! One thing is for certain though, Alabama is beautiful and it's my home. I've lived here longer than anywhere else in my life and I can't imagine living anywhere else!
