Middle School Principal's Introduction Letter
Dear faculty/staff, students and parents,
I am honored and enthusiastic to introduce myself as your new Chapman Middle School Principal. My name is Anthony Dent, and I am proud to be joining Chapman Middle School! I consider myself to be a “family man” and plan to strengthen the family framework at Chapman Middle. An effective family-school partnership includes mutual trust, respect, and shared responsibility for the education of our students. I look forward to working alongside you during this school year!
Education has always been a priority in my family. My mother retired from teaching after twenty-eight years. My father was a teacher, for one year. My grandmother was a school bus driver for thirty-three years. My uncle was a teacher and a principal. I chose to continue the legacy. Collectively, I have 22 years of educational experience; 21 of those years have been in the Huntsville City School District. For 15 years, I taught high school English and history. I have been an assistant principal for the past 7 years where five of those years were on the middle school level, and 2 years at a P-8 magnet school. Prior to becoming an educator, I served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 8 years. I am married to my beautiful wife of 22 years, Mrs. Teresa Dent. We have two daughters, Imani (16 yrs. Old), and Nia (9 yrs. Old). I am a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and have served on the Huntsville Education Association (HEA) Board for 5 years. I attended Alabama A&M University and received the following degrees: Bachelor’s degree in English/History Education, Master’s degree in English Education, Administrative Certification K-12, and an Educational Specialist degree.
I am ready to put my years of experience and areas of expertise to work for Chapman Middle! I look forward to meeting you all in person. Please plan to attend a “Meet and Greet” at Chapman Middle on July 28, 2019. Details will be announced at a later date.
