Black History Month Celebration with Mrs. Barbour's Class

The self-contained students at Columbia High School in Ms. Barbour's class celebrated Black History month researching notable African American authors and inventors.

Michelle Obama, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, W.E.B. Dubois, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Alex Haley, Toni Morrison and Octavia Butler were a part of their research due to their notable works and literary genres.

Madam C.J. Walker, Garrett Morgan, W.B. Purvis, A.P. Ashbourne, J.L. Love, Lonnie Johnson, Alfred Cralle, Issac Johnson, P.B. Downing, Sarah Boone and Marie Van Brittan-Brown were researched along with their inventions.

The students made oral presentations during their history and reading classes.Needless to say, the students learned a wealth of information!
