Blue Origin Leaders Visit Columbia High School

General John Hyten, the Executive Director of the Blue Origin Club for the Future, Michael Edmonds and other leaders from Blue Origin visited our school on Monday, August 8th to meet with our principal, Dr. Jones, his administrative team, and students to talk about the future, aerospace, science, technology, engineering and mathematics — and how these things can be used to find solutions to the world's problems. 

Blue Origin is a s nonprofit foundation designed to inspire the next generation of space leaders. The company that was founded by Jeff Bezos with the visoion of enabling a future where millions of people are living and working in space to benefit Earth. 

Dr. Jones addressed, welcomed and thanked the visitors in a speech and the leaders from Blue Origin discussed the mission and vision of their company.

The students completed an activity by filling out postcards that will be sent to space and returned to them!  

The event was organized by Elizabeth Fleming, Director of Public Development along with the Admin Team and JROTC Department at Columbia High School.

Superintendent Christie Finley,  Zac McWhorter- the Career and Technical Education Director, Carlos Matthews- Board Member, Mark Vanhooser- Disrict Curriculum Specialist and other district level people were in attendance.

It was astonishing experience for all!
