CHS Kicks Off Hispanic Heritage Month
Columbia High School kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month! The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15.
Columbia started the celebration with a special guest speaker, Javier Bueno. Javier was not only a guest speaker but also family because he is a former graduate of Columbia. He spoke about his future plans of becoming a doctor and what it takes to be successful.
The presentation was well-received and very encouraging.
