IB Habitat for Humanity Project

The DP and CP students from the IB Programme are volunteering and partnering with The Habit for Humanity of Madison County, which is a non-profit organization that help families build and improve places to call home.

The students are building an 8 X11 foot playhouse with the theme, Monster's, Inc. The students were given the plan and materials in which they have 4-6 weeks to build. The students have already put in at least 60 or 70 hours--working after school and on the weekends.

The students from Columbia High School are in competition with two (2) other schools from Madison City and Madison County. Once the house is completed, the City will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite house. Once voted on, the house will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity of Madison County.

The students in the IB programme are committed to making meaningful and positive contributions in the community. Taking on special projects such as this, helps the students to learn valuable project-management skills that will serve them well as citizens and in their careers.
