Farley Celebrations

Farley Students Celebrate Attendance

Attendance in school is an issue throughout our country. Research shows that missing 10% of school (about 18 days) negatively affects a student’s academic performance. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating. Here at Farley Elementary School, we are encouraging our students to attend school on time, every single day. In order to encourage our students to increase their attendance rate, we have a Monthly Attendance Celebration. During this celebration, students are recognized by being included on the school wide “Perfect Attendance List”. These students names are read aloud over the intercom, their names are posted on the Attendance Board and they also receive a special treat.

Together We  S.O.A.R

As part of a district-wide initiative, Farley Elementary School implemented a school-wide, positive behavior system. This is called PBIS, Positive Behavior Intervention Systems. Our goal with PBIS is to improve the school climate and maximize academic achievement.  We accomplish this goal by continuing to set behavioral expectations in the classroom and non-classroom settings. Students are encouraged through rewards and incentives when they demonstrate these expected behaviors on a consistent basis. At Farley Elementary we have adopted the motto “Together We S.O.A.R” to outline the expectations that will support and create a positive and respectful learning environment. S.O.A.R stands for:

S – Show Respect

O – Organized and Ready

A – Arrive on Time

R – Respond Responsibly

Students learn more about these expectations through classroom lessons, modeling, and practice.  In addition, Farley S.O.A.R posters are placed around the building. Students receive S.O.A.R money, which are tickets that resemble money. These tickets are given out as a reward for exhibiting S.O.A.R behavior. Our goal is to acknowledge students who are doing the right thing. S.O.A.R money can be collected and turned in for different types of rewards.PBIS Award with Farley Faculty and Students
