5th Grade Gets Gritty

It’s always so exciting to start a new school year, and 5thgrade is especially exciting!  As soon as the new year begins, the students in 5thgrade start learning about being gritty.  Grit is the overarching theme of 5thgrade, and the most important skillset we strive to teach.  Grit is the perseverance to keep working, even when it is hard. The students learn about grit through a series of video lessons, classroom conversations and expectations. Grit supports our school wide 4Rs, and most importantly, teaches that with hard work, anyone can succeed in achieving their goals.  With parental support, our efforts pay off as watch the amazing growth throughout the year.  At 5thgrade orientation, we introduce grit to the parents with this wonderful Ted Talk: The Power of  Passion and Perserverance
