Owlsome Music Happenings

It has been a great start in music class this year.  Grades 1-5 have been studying the Olympics Fanfare and Theme along with the great composer John Williams.  He is 89 and still composing music.  He will be 90 in February.    The students were surprised to find out how many movies they know that he has composed music for.  Just yesterday there was a great interview with him on CBS Sunday morning.

The Kindergartners worked on different ways to use their voices as well as working on the steady beat by doing the “Elephant Walk” song and moving like the animals in the music.

Needless to say, music is a vital part of a well-rounded child and will contribute to their lifelong learning.  The following is a quote from Plato that sums it up very well.  “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”- Plato
