STEAM Projects in Art
As we started out the school year, students created art inspired by the book “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds. It is a story of a young student that wanted to give up, but instead her teacher said, “Make a mark and see where it takes you.” Our students at Goldsmith are doing just that, resilience and determination is being grounded in our students like never before.
In each grade level students started with a dot and then took a chance to be creative while learning how to use art materials in new ways. From strengthening their fine motor skills to challenging their critical thinking students created their artwork. All students explored STEAM activities through this week. Using sodium with water color and watched the chemical reaction on their artwork, and math skills on radial balance. Our third grade students drew a flat 2 dimensional design in a circle and using an app on the iPad the students turned their circles into spheres. Using technology in new and exciting ways to broaden the art experience.
All students artwork from “The Dot” will be hanging for a school wide art show to display our students amazing artistic abilities.
