Chris Sutton has been a Huntsville City Schools teacher for 9 years. For the last 6 years she has has been teaching AP Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and coaching CyberPatriot Cybersecurity teams at Virgil I. Grissom High School. In 2013 she was recognized as a NMSI Top-10 AP Computer Science teacher. In 2014 she was recognized as the Alabama Educator of the year for NCWIT (National Center for Women in Technology). In 2014 Grissom’s CyberPatriot team finished 2nd in the nation at the National Finals competition held in Washington DC, and in 2015 the team claimed the National Championship by surpassing more than 2000 teams. In 2015 she was recognized as the CyberPatriot National Coach of the Year. Chris worked in industry for more than 20 years as a Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, and Program Manager on manufacturing automation and transit management projects for Westinghouse, Raytheon, Orbital Sciences, and Textron. When not teaching or coaching (or taking classes), Chris enjoys traveling, camping, gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband and two grown children.
