Principal's Message 10-11-21
Grissom Parents & Students,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful and relaxing fall break. Please see information below regarding testing, pictures, and homecoming. New information is highlighted. Have a great week!
Pre-ACT Information for ALL 10th Grade Students:
All 10th grade students at Grissom will be taking the Pre-ACT October 14, 2021. In preparation for testing, students must complete the demographics portion of the assessment. The Pre-ACT test will be administered on October 14, 2021. Please see the information below for directions for both Traditional and HVA students:
All 10th grade HVA students will need to report to campus to complete the demographics portion of their Pre-ACT on either Monday, 10/11 or Tuesday, 10/12. We have two sessions to choose from, so you can pick the time that works best for you:
- Monday, 10/11: 1:30p
- Tuesday, 10/12: 1:30p
Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before your selected time so you can be checked in. You will need to enter through the Gym Lobby where school staff will take your name, sign you in and direct you where to go. Students who do not complete the demographics on Monday or Tuesday will NOT be allowed to take the Pre-ACT. Students who report to campus to take their demographics will be excused from any class they will miss during that time.
Additionally, all HVA students will need to report to campus to take the Pre-ACT on their assigned day. ALL HVA students should report to their assigned testing room on test day. Signs will be posted, and staff will be available to help students find their assigned testing location. Students must be in their assigned testing location no later than 8:30 in the morning. Students who arrive late will NOT be permitted to enter the testing room and will NOT be able to test. Testing will last until approximately 12:30. Students may bring a calculator with them to use on the math portion of the test. NO CELLPHONES will be permitted into the testing room. Additionally, NO FOOD OR DRINKS will be allowed into the testing room. Students will be dismissed once testing has been completed for everyone.
All 10th grade traditional students will complete the demographics during their English classes on Thursday, 9/30 or Friday, 10/1. Students who do not complete the demographics on Thursday or Friday will NOT be allowed to take the Pre-ACT.
Traditional students will take the Pre-ACT on their assigned day. Students must be in their assigned testing location no later than 8:30 in the morning. Students who arrive late will NOT be permitted to enter the testing room and will NOT be able to test. Testing will last until approximately 12:30. Counselor and Assistant Principal Assignments:
If you need to schedule a conference with a teacher, please reach out to the teacher for a date and time. If you need to schedule a conference with 2 or more teachers, please contact your student’s grade-level counselor.
It is always best to handle concerns at the lowest level possible. This will ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and efficient manner. Our faculty and coaching staff are trained professionals, dedicated to supporting their students. Please give the teachers and coaches an opportunity to resolve issues at the classroom level first.
- Step 1. If your concern involves your student’s teacher or coach, please email that teacher or coach first. You may request a conference or try to resolve the issue via email.
- Step 2. If after attempting to resolve your concern with the teacher or coach you feel your concern is not resolved, please contact the appropriate grade-level assistant principal.
- Step 3. If after attempting to resolve your concern first with the teacher and second with the appropriate grade-level assistant principal you feel your concern is not adequately addressed, please involve the principal, Mrs. Jeanne Greer. Appointments may be made through the office manager, Mrs. Laurie McGuffey, email@example.com.
Breakfast & Lunch:
All students qualify for free breakfast and lunch during the 2021-2022 school year.
Make sure your child knows their lunch number.
