Sandra Garrett Rigsby

In this political season of transition, I teach one of the most fascinating subjects at Grissom High. I am the regular American Government and United States History 11th teacher. I began my teaching career 28 years ago. I am happy to say I still love my students and my career choice. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Gary. We are lucky that our two sons gave us the most precious gifts that we could ever have been given, four grandchildren. We have three accomplished grandsons and one chic granddaughter ages 15, 14, 13 and 12. Our life revolves around whatever interests the "grand's." If they want to go there, play it, eat it or experience it, that is what we do. Our happy place is the beach. If it involves sand, we are there. As any of my students can tell you, I love sharks. They are my passion. To me, they are the most magnificent creatures on earth. I want to see them flourish for generations to come.
