Hawk News from the Principal 11/16

Hello HCES families!   Please see the letter below about our procedures for next Monday, Nov. 23rd and Tuesday, Nov. 24th:

Dear HCS Parents and Guardians,

As a reminder regarding this year’s academic calendar, Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24 are remote learning/eLearning days prior to the Thanksgiving holidays. Students will not report to school campuses, but they will engage in remote learning as they receive instruction and assignments virtually from their classroom teachers. Schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Friday, Nov. 27 for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Students in grades K-5 will be provided with live instruction for all classes via Zoom. Student assignments will be located in Schoology for student retrieval and access. Once the assignments are completed, students will submit their assignments using the method requested by the classroom teacher. Upon completion of their core assignments, students should access Lexia, Freckle, and MyOn to engage in these learning resources for at least 15 minutes each. In addition, K-5 classroom teachers will provide tiered small group and/or individual online academic support instruction. Academic support times will be communicated to parents and guardians by the classroom teachers.

If you have any questions concerning the remote learning/eLearning days, please contact your child’s teacher and/or the school principal for assistance. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely, Ms. Spivey

Picture day is this week! I have added the Picture flyer below. Traditional students will have their picture taken on Wednesday, Nov. 18th. HVA students will have their pictures taken on Thursday, Nov. 19th from 9:00-12:00. HVA teachers will share their class picture time with parents. HVA siblings can make one trip for pictures, parents can choose a class time.

Please alert your child's teacher if someone in your household is diagnosed with COVID-19 or if anyone in your household has been exposed. We have nurses who can assist us with the next steps.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me or your child's teacher.

Thank you,

Ms. Spivey
