Hawk News from the Principal

Hello HCES families,

New information that I will continue to send out as we receive information.

School is now closed until April 3rd, however, our school will be open tomorrow only, March 16th, from 7:30-4:00 for parents to pick up student medication checked in to the nurses' station, technology devices, student materials, etc. I know you have many questions as things continue to change and we are attempting to navigate our way through this evolving situation as a community. Thank you for hanging in there with us and being patient! As you know, the Governor has declared a state of emergency and stated that schools will be closed beginning close of business Wednesday of this week. This is a complete shut down for all schools.

Our school will serve grab and go meals through the car line from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16th - Wednesday, March 18th.

We will not hold events or participate in field trips through April 30. At that time, we will re-evaluate. I am still waiting to hear back from the USSRC about a rescheduled date for our 5th Grade Space Camp experience. If you have specific questions about an event do not hesitate to email me for clarification.

At this time, the plan is to return to school on Monday, April 6th. Governor Ivey, Dr. Mackey and Mrs. Finley will all be monitoring and assessing the situation and let us know if any changes to this date are necessary.

As you know, things can change quickly. HCS or I will continue to keep you informed as any additional information becomes available.

I am planning a Facebook Live for Thursday, March 19th at 9:00 a.m. on our Hampton Cove Elementary School facebook page. We will say our Hawk Pledge as a reminder to be kind, respectful, and helpful. I will share a few stories with our students and provide a few book extensions and ideas to use with any books you have on hand. I know you are comforting and reassuring our children during this time and I want to contribute in a positive way! :)

Again, our current priority is the health of our students, teachers, and community. We have an amazing community and I appreciate the support and patience you have shown during this time. Thank you for all that you do to support HCES!
