Hawk News from the Principal

Hello HCES Family!

As we enter our third week of the Blended Learning Plan, I want to thank all of our parents for supporting our students and teachers through this process. New learning can be difficult, but I hope you are finding your footing and settling into a new routine from home. I will work to keep you updated on any new information that becomes available as I know you still have questions. Our school phone line was fixed this past Friday so we are glad that any new parents moving into our area who may not have a point of contact can reach us now. Email is still the best way to reach me and I know our teachers are working to support our children as well.

Our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Lettrice Ward, is still working to support our families, so I wanted to provide her email and phone number if you or your children have questions or concerns. She is a great wealth of knowledge and can provide assistance as well.
Email: lettrice.ward@hsv-k12.org Phone: 256-384-4848

I have added our additional "Special Teachers" (PE, Art, Music, ETA, Librarian) information below with their contact information if you need to reach them.

Progress reports will be ready to view on April 24th for the 4th nine-week grading period. If you do not have access to your child's iNOW account to view their grades, please email our Assistant Principal, Dr. Lakeeta Perkins at lakeeta.perkins@hsv-k12.org. Dr. Perkins can provide this information for you, but she will need your child's name and you will need to be listed on their iNOW information. We are only providing this information to parents/guardians.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I am so impressed with our entire school community as we worked toward the Hawk Hustle. Even though this event had to be canceled, we had so many donations and we must thank everyone who worked on this committee and is still working to provide the prize drawings this Friday, April 24th. If you have questions about the drawings, please visit the HCES Hawk Hustle page on Facebook. I will post the information below as well.

Please know that we still have so many questions without answers at this time, however, our hearts are with our students as we know they have even more questions that will need answers. As soon as it is safe, and we have guidance that we are allowed back in the building, we will provide an opportunity for students to enter the building to collect their belongings. I am certain that all of us have items in our building that we would like in our possession but at this time, we are unable to retrieve these items. Please know that everything is locked away and safe.

I am working on our "K for a Day "virtual presentation and plan to have this ready to view on Monday, April 27th. If you know of any upcoming Kindergartners in your neighborhood, please let them know the information will be available soon and we have plans to host something special for them once the social distancing is lifted. We hope to host something special for everyone once we are allowed to gather together again. :)

Thank you for ensuring your child(ren) are submitting their assignments in a timely manner. This helps our teachers enter grades and keep things current in iNOW.

We are always here to support you! Please email me at christina.spivey@hsv-k12.org if you need support or have questions or concerns. I miss all of you!

Thank you,

Ms. Spivey
