Hawk News from the Principal

Hello HCES Family!

Happy Mother's Day to all of our amazing moms! We appreciate you! We also want to thank you for making our teachers feel special this past week with Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers loved the things you did for them. I appreciate your support and kindness during this time.

Many of you have asked about collecting and returning items from/to school (library books, spring pictures, jackets, personal books,etc.). The district is awaiting guidance from the ALDPH, CDC and Governor, but we are hopeful our teachers will be able to return to school the week of May 18th. Once we know for sure, I will communicate this to you. I anticipate that it will be the end of this week or possibly the weekend before we receive guidance on this, but I will let you know our plan as soon as I find out. Once the teachers have access to their classrooms, we will begin collecting library books, broken Chromebooks, etc. and share our plan for students to collect their items. Students will keep their Chromebooks over the summer unless they are broken or your child will not return to an HCS school next school year.

Our yearbooks have not yet arrived and we anticipate a summer delivery at this time. Once I have more information, I will share this as well.

Please continue to encourage your child to read and take their AR tests! We will still plan an AR celebration when we return to school!

Our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Lettrice Ward, is still working to support our families, so I wanted to provide her email and phone number if you or your children have questions or concerns. She is a great wealth of knowledge and can provide assistance as well.

Thank you for ensuring your child(ren) are submitting their assignments in a timely manner. This helps our teachers enter grades and keep things current in INOW.

We are always here to support you! Please email me at christina.spivey@hsv-k12.org if you need support or have questions or concerns. I miss all of you!

Thank you,

Ms. Spivey
