HCES Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones/smart watches/devices are to be kept in backpacks and turned off during the school day. If a student has an emergency, the student should ask permission from the teacher to use his/her cell phone/device.
If the student does not follow the expectations for cell phone/device usage:
- 1st infraction – teacher warns student to put the device away
- 2nd infraction – teacher collects device and returns to the student at the end of the day
- 3rd infraction – teacher collects the device and turns in to the front office. Parent must come to the school to pick up the device.
There will be a reset period of 4 weeks, however, if the office has a child’s cell phone more than two times within a grading period, there will be further disciplinary action as noted in the BLG Matrix page 7 Disruptive and Uncooperative Behavior.
(Please remember to follow our procedure of alerting your child's teacher and the front office if your child has a change of transportation.)
