Parent Information Letter 2/22
Hello HCES family,
Wow! What a week this has been! I hope you have all been able to stay safe and warm! I'm glad to see some sunshine today!
We were very excited that Perseverance made a safe landing on Mars and will still celebrate on Monday by wearing space-related clothing (space or NASA t-shirts, flight suits, Space Camp t-shirts, etc) to kick off our STEAM WEEK! Our Steam committee has created a STEAM materials bag for every student to complete the activity on Wednesday. HVA parents are welcome to pick up their child's bag any time 8:00 am -4:00 pm on Monday - Wednesday but we do ask that you only pick up one bag for each child. We only have enough supplies for one bag per child. We will place the STEAM material bags out front for easy access. We plan to send home the STEAM material bags with our traditional students on Wednesday. All of the other materials your child will need to complete the other activities should be materials you already have at home. And, our HVA students may have all of the materials at home and if so, you do not have to pick on up from the school, it is your preference.
This Friday, February 26, we will have a fun "Glow Day" during your child's PE time. We will have PE in the cafeteria with black lights and low lights so their shirts will glow. Please allow your child to wear a white shirt or the Glow Shirt that was sold through the PTA Spiritwear link. We will have the HVA students join during their grade levels PE time. The last day to order a Glow shirt was Feb.14th to have it here in time for the 26th!
Please remember to keep your child(ren) home if they are showing COVID symptoms and email your child's teacher and admin as well. We appreciate our parents for being so diligent with COVID and we will continue to remind our parents of our procedures and processes. Also, please remind your children the importance of wearing their masks daily while they are at school.
We do ask for your help to check their mask and ensure it does fit properly (over the nose and mouth). Also, please remember to send your child to school with a mask. We continue to show low COVID numbers across our school so far and I have to attribute this to our teamwork and the efforts of our staff and parents. Thank you for supporting our procedures. We work to ensure the safety and health of our students daily.
Additionally, HCS reminds families to follow recommended health protocols including practicing social distancing to the greatest extent possible, washing hands frequently, and wearing a mask.
Please contact your child's teacher and include admin if you have questions about any COVID exposure or positive diagnosis. We appreciate your support.
